Mogadishu, (SONNA) — The State Minister of Defense of the Federal Government of Somalia, H.E. Omar Abdi Ali, received in his office a delegation of senior officers from the Turkish Navy, led by the Chief of Staff of the Turkish Navy, Vice Admiral Mustafa Kaya.
The meeting focused on strengthening maritime security cooperation, training and capacity-building of the Somali Navy and Coast Guard, and enhancing strategic collaboration between Somalia and Türkiye.
The State Minister commended the role of the Government of Türkiye in supporting and building the capacity of the Somali armed forces, noting that this partnership is vital for safeguarding maritime security, countering security threats, and protecting national interests.
The State Minister was accompanied by the Commander of the Navy and Coast Guard, Brigadier General Cabdiwahaab Cabdullaahi Cumar; the Secretary of the SNA General Command, Brigadier General Maxamuud Goodax Barre; and officers from the Somali National Army and the Turkish Armed Forces.
