Mogadishu, (SONNA) — The State Minister of Defence of the Federal Government of Somalia, H.E. Omar Ali Abdi, today held a meeting with the Deputy Ambassador of the State of Qatar to Somalia, Mr. Mohamed Awad Al-Shammari.
The meeting centred on ways to further strengthen the historic and brotherly relations between the two nations, with particular focus on areas of security cooperation, capacity building, and support to the African Union Support and Stabilisation Mission in Somalia (AUSSOM).
Both sides also exchanged views on the steady progress achieved by the Somali National Armed Forces in ongoing operations against terror groups. The State Minister commended the continued partnership and invaluable support of the State of Qatar to Somalia’s security and stabilisation efforts, reaffirming the Ministry’s commitment to advancing the spirit of cooperation between the two countries.
