Mogadishu (SONNA) – The Speaker of the People’s Assembly of the Federal Republic of Somalia, Mr. Sheikh Adan Mohamed Noor (Madobobe), hosted the European Union Ambassador to Somalia, Karin Johansson, at his office.
During the meeting, Speaker Madobobe expressed profound gratitude to the European Union for its comprehensive support to the Somali people and government. He emphasized that the 11th Parliament prioritizes the review and completion of the constitution and other critical legislative frameworks.
Speaker Madobobe highlighted the Parliament’s commitment to facilitating elections, enabling the Somali people to elect their leaders. He assured that the Somali Parliament is dedicated to enacting all necessary laws to ensure the smooth conduct of these elections.
Ambassador Johansson commended the Somali Parliament for its commendable efforts in passing crucial legislation, including the ongoing constitutional review, debt forgiveness, and measures to curb food insecurity and disarmament. She acknowledged the significant strides made by the Somali government, including its bid to join the United Nations Security Council.
The Ambassador also lauded the Somali government’s various developmental initiatives and its strategic plan to hold national elections, underscoring the EU’s continued support for Somalia’s progress and stability.
