Mogadishu, (SONNA) — The Speaker of the House of the People of the Federal Republic of Somalia, Hon. Sheikh Aden Mohamed Noor (Madoobe), who is currently in Nairobi, held a meeting with his Kenyan counterpart, Moses M. Wetang’ula.
Speaker Wetang’ula congratulated Sheikh Aden Madoobe on his leadership role as Chairperson of the East African Community Parliamentary Speakers’ Forum, Somalia’s successful election of its representatives to the East African Legislative Assembly (EALA), and the country’s growing, active contribution within the regional bloc.
Speaker Madoobe conveyed condolences on behalf of Somalia over the passing of former Kenyan Prime Minister Raila Odinga. He also extended an invitation to Kenya’s Speaker to attend the East African Community Speakers’ Summit set to be hosted by Somalia in May 2026.
The meeting further discussed:
- Establishing a parliamentary friendship committee between the two nations
- Enhancing experience-sharing programs between members of both parliaments
- Strengthening overall cooperation and coordination between the legislative bodies
The session was also attended by the Secretary-General of Somalia’s House of the People, Abdirahman Mohamed Abdulle (Jaabiri), Somalia’s Ambassador to Kenya, Jibril Ibrahim Abdulle, and the Director-General of the Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs, Yusuf Hassan.
