Mogadishu, (SONNA) — The Director General of the Ministry of Transport and Civil Aviation of the Federal Republic of Somalia, Mr. Omar Afrax, accompanied by directors, technical experts, and senior officials from various departments of the Ministry, paid an official visit and held a working meeting with the New Mogadishu Development Company (NMDC).
During the meeting, the Director General and his delegation received a comprehensive briefing on NMDC’s operational structure, its approach to implementing major infrastructure development projects, with particular emphasis on electricity and energy infrastructure in New Mogadishu, and the company’s strategic role in advancing national economic infrastructure.
The discussions also focused on key strategic components of the New Mogadishu International Airport (NMIA), where participants reviewed development initiatives related to aviation infrastructure and national transport systems.
The meeting concluded with an in-depth exchange on potential areas of cooperation and partnership between the Ministry of Transport and Civil Aviation and NMDC. Both sides underscored the importance of sustained collaboration to ensure sustainable development, strengthen strategic infrastructure, and support Somalia’s broader national development goals.
