Nairobi, SONNA – The Minister of Public Works, Rehabilitation and Housing of the Federal Government of Somalia, Dr. Elmi Mahmoud Nur, held a high-level meeting with officials from the African Development Bank (AfDB) in Nairobi, Kenya. The discussions centered on enhancing collaboration and accelerating the implementation of key infrastructure projects aimed at rebuilding Somalia.

The meeting, held at the African Development Bank’s headquarters in Kenya, focused on strengthening the strategic partnership between the Somali Ministry of Public Works and the AfDB. Key topics included the progress of ongoing projects and plans for future initiatives, particularly the road construction project designed to connect regions across Somalia.

Dr. Elmi Mahmoud Nur expressed his gratitude to the AfDB for its continued support in Somalia’s reconstruction efforts. “The African Development Bank has been a steadfast partner in our journey to rebuild the nation. Their contributions to infrastructure development, particularly in road construction, are vital to fostering economic growth and connectivity across Somalia,” said the Minister.

The road construction project, a cornerstone of the partnership, aims to improve transportation networks, facilitate trade, and enhance access to essential services for communities in various regions. The meeting emphasized the importance of timely and effective implementation to ensure the project’s success.

Both parties reaffirmed their commitment to deepening collaboration and exploring new opportunities to support Somalia’s development agenda. The AfDB officials praised the Somali government’s efforts in prioritizing infrastructure development and pledged continued support to help the country achieve its long-term goals. This meeting marks another step forward in the strong partnership between Somalia and the African Development Bank, highlighting the shared vision.
