The Prime Minister of Somalia, Hamsa Abdi Barre, inaugurated a new prison court in Mogadishu on Thursday, as part of the government’s efforts to reform the justice system and the judiciary in the country.
The prison court, located in KM 7 (former Control Afgooye), was built with the support of the United Nations and other donors, and is equipped with modern facilities and technology. The court will handle cases involving inmates and detainees, and will ensure fair and speedy trials.
Prime Minister Barre said that the new prison court was a sign of the progress made by the #DanQaran government, which has made justice one of its six pillars. He said that the country’s security and economic achievements would not have been possible without improving the rule of law and the administration of justice.
He also thanked the UN and the donors for their contribution to the construction of the prison court, and said that the government was committed to building more modern prisons that can meet the needs of the prisoners in Somalia. He urged the judicial staff and the prison authorities to uphold the highest standards of professionalism and integrity in their work.
