Mogadishu, April 24, 2023, SONNA)-: President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud received Burundi’s Foreign Minister Albert Shingiro on Monday during his two-day visit to Somalia.
Shingiro conveyed a message from Burundi’s President Évariste Ndayishimiye, expressing the Burundian government’s support for peace and stability in Somalia and its commitment to standing with the Somali people in their fight against terrorism.
The president thanked Shingiro for Burundi’s support and expressed hope for continued cooperation between the two countries. He also noted that Shingiro’s visit reflects Somalia’s progress in recent years.
Somalia has experienced relative peace and stability, making significant progress in its fight against the al-Shabaab terrorist group and rebuilding its infrastructure.
Burundi is a key regional ally of Somalia, sharing a common interest in peace and security in the Horn of Africa.
