Mogadishu (SONNA) – The Prime Minister of Somalia, His Excellency Hamsa Abdi Barre, held discussions today with Ambassador Abdalla Al-Uteybi, Head of the Arab League Envoy to Somalia, focusing on enhancing bilateral cooperation across multiple sectors.
The meeting, which took place at the Prime Minister’s office in Mogadishu, centered on deepening political and economic collaboration between Somalia and the Arab League. Prime Minister Barre highlighted Somalia’s significant progress under his administration and outlined lucrative investment opportunities in key sectors, including livestock, agriculture, fisheries, energy, petroleum, and mining. He encouraged Arab League member states to explore these areas for potential partnerships.
Ambassador Al-Uteybi reaffirmed the Arab League’s commitment to supporting Somalia, emphasizing the importance of promoting Arabic language education in the country. Both leaders acknowledged Somalia’s unique position as a Muslim-majority nation and member of the Arab League, with Arabic recognized as the second official language in its constitution.
The discussions also touched on regional security and development initiatives, with both parties expressing optimism about future cooperation. This meeting marks another step in strengthening Somalia’s ties with the Arab world as the country continues its path toward stability and economic growth.
