Mogadishu (SONNA) – The National Security Adviser to the President of the Federal Republic of Somalia, Mr. Hussein Sheikh Ali, closed the annual conference on the management of arms and ammunition, and the procedures for lifting the arms embargo on Somalia.
The adviser who gave a speech at the closing of the meeting said that the parties agreed to accelerate the implementation of specific plans and procedures for the process of lifting the arms embargo on Somalia after a long time.
“We have succeeded in achieving many of the required standards, and we will complete the remaining ones within this year. It is not an easy dream to lift an arms embargo but it is a necessary thing to take responsibility for the security of our nation”.
Somalia has made significant progress in meeting the targets set out in the disarmament standards by establishing a high-level committee that works to complete the requirements for the disarmament process.
