Berlin, (SONNA) – A delegation from the Immigration and Citizenship Agency (ICA) of Somalia, led by its Director General, Mr. Mustafa Sheikh Cali Dhuxulow, is conducting an official working visit to Germany, where they held high-level meetings with Dr. Dieter Romann, President of the Federal Police Headquarters of Germany, along with other senior officials involved in migration and border security.
The discussions focused on several key areas of cooperation, including:
- Enhancing coordination between institutions responsible for migration and border control;
- Modernizing ICA services, such as visa processing, residency permits, passport issuance, and identity verification;
- Strengthening border security through the application of advanced technologies;
- Promoting recognition of the Somali passport and facilitating legal travel;
- Combating organized crime and human trafficking;
- Building the skills and capacity of ICA personnel;
- Improving infrastructure at Somalia’s international airports.
These productive engagements aim to address current challenges while enhancing the global standing of the Somali passport and supporting safe, legal mobility for Somali citizens.
As part of the visit, the Somali delegation received briefings on how German institutions manage migration and secure borders. They also toured Berlin International Airport to observe modern operations and the advanced technologies used in day-to-day border management.
