Mogadishu, SONNA – Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Ambassador Ahmed Moallim Fiqi, hosted a dinner in Mogadishu on Tuesday evening for a high-level Azerbaijani delegation. The delegation was led by Azerbaijan’s Deputy Foreign Minister, Yalchin Rafiyev, marking a pivotal moment in the growing diplomatic relationship between the two nations.

The event, held in the Somali capital, showed the commitment of both countries to deepen their cooperation across various sectors. Ambassador Fiqi expressed his gratitude for the visit, highlighting the importance of fostering stronger ties with Azerbaijan. He emphasized Somalia’s eagerness to explore new avenues of collaboration, particularly in areas of mutual interest such as trade, investment, and cultural exchange.

Deputy Foreign Minister Rafiyev, in his remarks, praised Somalia’s efforts to rebuild and stabilize the country, reaffirming Azerbaijan’s support for Somalia’s development goals. He noted that the visit symbolizes the progressive and brotherly relations between the two nations, rooted in shared values and a vision for a prosperous future.

The Azerbaijani delegation’s visit to Somalia is seen as a significant step in enhancing diplomatic engagement and fostering closer ties. Both sides expressed optimism about the potential for increased cooperation, which they believe will bring mutual benefits and contribute to regional stability.

This meeting follows a series of diplomatic efforts by Somalia to strengthen its international partnerships and attract investment as part of its broader post-conflict recovery and development agenda. The growing relationship with Azerbaijan is expected to open new opportunities for collaboration, further solidifying the bond between the two countries.

As the dinner concluded, both officials reiterated their commitment to working together to achieve shared goals, signaling a promising future for Somalia-Azerbaijan relations.
