Mogadishu – (SONNA) – The Council of Ministers of the Federal Government of Somalia, in its regular weekly session, has officially approved the 2026 Budget Quota Regulation following a majority vote.
The meeting, presided over by the Prime Minister of the Federal Republic of Somalia, His Excellency Hamza Abdi Barre, also ratified two significant international agreements aimed at bolstering regional and international cooperation.
The first of these is a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the governments of Somalia and the State of Qatar. This agreement centers on enhancing cooperation in critical security matters and collaborating in the fight against crime.
Additionally, the Council approved a second MoU with the Republic of Uganda, establishing a framework for cooperation on migration management and related affairs between the two nations.
During the session, the Council was presented with comprehensive reports on the national security and defense situation. The ministers highly commended the Somali Armed Forces for their sustained victories and significant gains in the ongoing military operations against the ‘Khawarij’ terrorist group.
