Nairobi, SONNA – A farewell event was held on Tuesday at the headquarters of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kenya for Ambassador Mohamud Ahmed Nur (Tarsan), who completed his term as the ambassador of the Federal Government of Somalia to Kenya.

The event was attended by Dr. Abraham Korir Sing’Oei, Kenya’s Cabinet Secretary for Foreign Affairs, other dignitaries, and members of the Kenyan diplomatic corps.

Ambassador Tarsan has been Somalia’s ambassador to Kenya since 2018, and during his tenure he played a significant role in strengthening the relationship between the two countries. He was also a campaigner for peace and stability in East Africa and the Horn of Africa.

Dr. Sing’Oei appreciated Ambassador Nur for his good service and his practical contribution to the development of relations between Kenya and Somalia. He also said that he is very grateful to Ambassador Nur “for his personal commitment to peace and stability in the Horn of Africa”.

Dr. Sing’Oei continued to mention that Ambassador Nur was a “valuable friend” and a “true friend of Kenya”. He also praised his “untiring efforts to promote peace and stability in the Horn of Africa.”

Ambassador Nur said that he is very grateful to the Kenyan government for its warm welcome and the “relentless support” that stood by his side during his tenure. He also thanked his colleagues and workers for “the people and the efforts they showed”.

He expressed his hope that the bilateral relations between Somalia and Kenya will continue to grow and flourish in the future. He also said that he will always remain a friend and a brother to Kenya.
