Mogadishu, SONNA – At the 11th World Peace Forum, Somalia’s Ambassador to China, Amb. Awale Kullane, delivered a powerful speech on the importance of China-Africa cooperation for high-quality development. The conference, themed “Stabilizing an Unstable World through Consensus and Cooperation,” brought together leaders and experts to discuss global issues.

Amb. Kullane highlighted Somalia’s recent progress in economic, security, and political areas, demonstrating the country’s commitment to a better future. Through the National Consultative Council, the Federal Government of Somalia has prioritized political dialogue and productive discussions. This has led to improvements in governance, resource allocation, fiscal federalism, and national security.

The Ambassador also emphasized the importance of inclusive and participatory democracy through one-person, one-vote elections. He mentioned the successful efforts of Somalia’s security forces in defeating terrorist groups such as Al-Shabaab and liberating several villages in collaboration with local communities.

In terms of economic progress, Amb. Kullane mentioned debt relief under the Initiative for Heavily Indebted Poor Countries and the implementation of acts relating to data protection, investment and investor protection, and electricity. These efforts have helped stabilize the economy and complete the national unified social registry.

Despite challenges such as drought and flooding, Somalia remains committed to long-term growth. Amb. Kullane’s speech at the 11th World Peace Forum highlights the importance of cooperation between China and Africa for high-quality development.
