Mogadishu, Somalia – Somalia’s Acting President and Speaker of the People’s Assembly Sheikh Adan Mohamed Noor led a ceremony to honor Hormud Telecom Company, the country’s largest telecommunications provider, on Friday.
The ceremony, which was attended by the Deputy Prime Minister, members of government councils, former Prime Ministers such as Hassan Ali Khayre and Omar Abdirashid, and other dignitaries, recognized Hormud Telecom’s achievements in various international business competitions.
Hormud Telecom, which was founded in 2002, has been providing mobile, internet, and banking services to millions of Somalis across the country. The company has also been investing in social and economic development projects, such as education, health, and infrastructure.
Recently, Hormud Telecom won several awards at the AfricaCom Awards, the Global Mobile Awards, and the World Communication Awards, among others. The awards highlighted the company’s innovation, resilience, and social impact in the African and global telecommunications industry.
Acting President Noor praised Hormud Telecom for its contribution to the nation’s progress and stability. He said that the company’s success was a source of pride and inspiration for all Somalis. He also urged other businesses to follow Hormud Telecom’s example and support the country’s development.
