Mogadishu, (SONNA) — The Minister of Health and Social Welfare of the Federal Government of Somalia, H.E. Dr. Ali Haji Adam, today held an important meeting with the Representative and Country Director of the World Food Programme (WFP) in Somalia, El-Khidir Daloum. The discussions focused on strengthening joint cooperation to reduce hunger and malnutrition, and to prevent the deaths of Somali children suffering from starvation.
The meeting discussed strengthening community nutrition programs, particularly those targeting mothers and children, advancing innovative solutions that promote the use of locally available foods, and building a sustainable supply system to ensure that nutritious food and essential medicines consistently reach the most vulnerable populations, especially in areas most affected.
It was also agreed to step up resource mobilization to implement the commitments made at the Nutrition for Growth Summit held in February 2025, by establishing a joint committee to coordinate campaigns and related plans. In addition, the meeting emphasized expanding new partnerships involving local businesses, the Somali diaspora, and private charitable organizations.
