Mogadishu, Somalia – The Federal Republic of Somalia has warmly welcomed the “historic and principled announcement” by the French Republic regarding its intention to recognize the State of Palestine. In a press statement released on Friday, July 25, 2025, Somalia lauded the move as a crucial step towards affirming the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people.
The Somali government highlighted that France’s declaration constitutes a reaffirmation of the Palestinian people’s inherent right to self-determination and sovereign statehood. This, Somalia asserted, is fully consistent with international law and relevant United Nations resolutions concerning the Palestinian question.
The statement further characterized France’s decision as a “timely and courageous contribution” to the burgeoning international consensus advocating for justice, lasting peace, and the implementation of a two-state solution. Somalia views this development as a significant stride towards the realization of Palestinian statehood and global stability.
