Addis Ababa, (SONNA) – The Director General of Somalia’s National Identification and Registration Authority (NIRA), Mr. Abdiweli Ali Abdulle (Timacadde), participated in the ID4Africa 2025 conference held in Addis Ababa, where he presented Somalia’s significant progress in implementing its national identification system.
In a keynote address to global delegates, Mr. Abdulle highlighted tangible achievements including the expansion of registration centers and the rollout of key systems such as Hubiye, e-ID, and the Civil Data System (CDS). These advancements have played a vital role in improving access to national identity services for the Somali population.
The conference, officially opened by Ethiopian Prime Minister Dr. Abiy Ahmed, brought together representatives from across Africa and international partners. Somalia was represented by a delegation from the Federal Government and federal member states, reflecting the country’s commitment to inclusive and secure identity infrastructure development.
