Mogadishu(SONNA)-Minister of Agriculture and Irrigation of the Federal Government of Somalia, H.E. Mohamed Abdi Hayir (Maareeye), says the country is witnessing a notable increase in farming activities as public awareness of agriculture’s importance continues to rise.
The Minister noted that more Somali citizens now understand the critical role farming plays in economic growth and food security, leading to greater engagement in cultivation across the country.
He reaffirmed the government’s commitment to supporting farmers through improved agricultural programs, irrigation development, and access to modern farming techniques.
Officials view the trend as a positive step toward strengthening local production and reducing reliance on imports.
