Mogadishu(SONNA)-Somalia on Tuesday received an urgent humanitarian package from United Arab Emirates at Aden Abdulle Airport in Mogadishu, becoming the second batch within a month as two counties restored their relations, SONNA reported.
Somalia Minister of Humaniterian and Disaster Management Affairs, Khadijo Mohamed Diriye received the support from UAE authorities after a plane carrying the shipment landed at the airport today.
The aid programme includes a humanitarian air bridge carrying dozens of tonnes of supplies to mitigate the repercussions of the drought according to UAE news agency, Wam.
This comes as Some 4.6 million people require urgent assistance, and the drought has led to the displacement of 345,000 people in the country.
