Arusha, (SONNA) – A high-level delegation led by the Minister of Commerce and Industry of the Federal Republic of Somalia, Hon. Mohamoud Adan Geesood, participated in the 46th Meeting of the Sectoral Council on Trade, Industry, Finance, and Investment (SCTIFI) of the East African Community (EAC), held from May 26 to 30, 2025, at the EAC headquarters in Arusha, Tanzania.
The meeting, in line with the EAC’s annual calendar, was conducted in three phases—starting with technical-level sessions, followed by Permanent Secretaries and Directors General, and concluding with a Ministerial session. The Council focused on strengthening regional cooperation in the fields of trade, industry, finance, and investment across East Africa.
During the sessions, Somalia presented a comprehensive national briefing, highlighting key progress made in implementing the EAC Roadmap. The delegation outlined the country’s achievements in trade reform and integration efforts, underscoring Somalia’s commitment to aligning with EAC standards and priorities.
The participation marked a significant step in Somalia’s regional engagement and its continued efforts to enhance cooperation and economic integration with fellow EAC member states.
