Mogadishu, (SONNA) – The Office of the Prime Minister today hosted the inaugural meeting of the Unified Governance Committee, a body established by Prime Minister Hamza Abdi Barre on October 8, 2025, as part of efforts to harmonize state administration and advance modern governance.
The session, chaired by Minister of Communications and Technology Mohamed Somali, who also serves as the committee’s chair, brought together representatives from all member ministries and offices, including:
• Ministry of Planning & Investment
• Ministry of Finance
• Ministry of Education, Culture & Higher Learning
• Ministry of Commerce & Industry
• Ministry of Health & Social Care
• Ministry of Labor & Social Affairs
• Ministry of Internal Security
• Ministry of Interior, Federal Affairs & Reconciliation
• Office of the Prime Minister
• Office of the President
Discussions focused on streamlining government operations, accelerating modern administrative procedures, and strengthening inter-ministerial coordination.
At the conclusion of the meeting, members agreed to:
1. Intensify efforts to unify government systems.
2. Implement a centralized framework for managing state data and services.
3. Enhance transparency and accountability across government institutions.
Officials described the meeting as a new milestone in Somalia’s state-building process, underscoring the Federal Government’s commitment to establishing a unified, efficient, and citizen-centered governance system.
