Mogadishu, (SONNA) – The Chairman of the National Independent Electoral and Boundary Commission, Abdikarim Ahmed Hassan, announced the official launch of the national voter registration campaign during a ceremony held today. Speaking at the event, Chairman Abdikarim confirmed that voter registration for the upcoming local council elections will begin on the 15th of this month, with the elections scheduled to take place on June 30.
He noted that the Commission has finalized all necessary preparations, including election materials and designated polling stations across the country.
“The public will begin heading to voter registration centers on the 15th of this month,” said Chairman Abdikarim Ahmed Hassan.
Also present at the launch was the Governor of Banadir and Mayor of Mogadishu, Mohamed Ahmed Amiir, who pledged to mobilize residents of the Banadir region to participate actively in the registration and voting process.
“I will lead the people of Banadir region to register and head to the polling stations,” Mayor Amiir stated.
