Mogadishu, (SONNA) — The Federal Minister of Agriculture and Irrigation, Hon. Mohamed Abdi Hayir, has officially launched a technical training program focused on agricultural machinery, aimed at equipping 30 young Somalis with hands-on skills in operating and repairing tractors.
The six-month training program is a collaborative effort between the Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Irrigation, Gaalooge Company, and CASE IH — a renowned agricultural equipment manufacturer based in Italy.
As part of the initiative, the Ministry and Gaalooge signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to strengthen their cooperation in areas including technical training, equipment exhibitions, field testing, and the advancement of agricultural technology in Somalia.
The Ministry emphasized its commitment to developing a new generation of skilled agricultural technicians and engineers who can address the machinery and technology challenges faced by Somali farmers.
This program marks a significant step toward mechanizing Somalia’s agriculture sector and empowering youth with the technical expertise to contribute to national food security and rural development.
