Addis Ababa, Ethiopia (SONNA) – Somalia is proudly participating in the 2nd East African Cultural, Arts, and Crafts Festival, currently underway in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. The event, which aims to promote regional integration through art and culture, has drawn ministers and delegates from across East Africa.
The Somali delegation, led by the Federal Republic of Somalia’s Minister of Information, Culture, and Tourism, Mr. Da’uud Aweys Jama, arrived in Addis Ababa to join representatives from Burundi, Uganda, Rwanda, Djibouti, South Sudan, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Tanzania, Kenya, and host country Ethiopia.
The festival was officially inaugurated today by Ethiopia’s Deputy Prime Minister, Mr. Temesgen Tiruneh, who emphasized the importance of cultural exchange in fostering unity and cooperation among East African nations.
In his remarks, Minister Da’uud Aweys highlighted the significance of the gathering, stating that its primary goal is to leverage culture as a tool to strengthen diplomatic ties, enhance social integration, and promote collaboration among East African countries.
Under the theme “Art and Culture for Regional Integration,” the festival showcases the rich cultural heritage of the East African region. The event brings together artists, craftsmen, and cultural enthusiasts from diverse communities, offering a platform to celebrate shared traditions and foster mutual understanding.
