Mogadishu, (SONNA) – The Minister of Internal Security of the Federal Government of Somalia, H.E Abdullaahi Sheikh Ismael (Fartaag), today received in his office an Iraqi delegation led by the Adviser to the Minister of Interior, General Ziyad Daha Ali, and the Director of the International Cooperation Department at Iraq’s Ministry of Interior, Lieutenant General Al Anshoor Manaati, who arrived in Mogadishu on an official visit.
The discussions focused on strengthening the brotherly ties between Somalia and Iraq, with particular emphasis on cooperation in security, counterterrorism, police training, and the exchange of expertise.
General Fartaag thanked the delegation for their visit, noting that it marked an important step in reinforcing bilateral collaboration, especially in the security sector.
The visit follows General Fartaag’s recent trip to Iraq, during which Somalia and Iraq signed a security cooperation agreement aimed at enhancing joint efforts in counterterrorism, sharing experiences, and benefiting from Iraq’s expertise in combating extremist groups.
