Mogadishu, (SONNA) – Somalia’s State Minister for Defence, H.E. Omar Ali Abdi, took part in an official ceremony held in Mogadishu to honor 31 officers of the Somali National Army who have been granted military scholarships by the People’s Republic of China.
In his remarks, Minister Omar expressed deep gratitude to the Chinese government for its continued support and solidarity with the Federal Government and people of Somalia. He emphasized that this initiative reflects the strong bilateral ties and ongoing cooperation in strengthening Somalia’s military capacity.
He urged the selected officers to make the most of this valuable opportunity, encouraging them to return equipped with modern knowledge, enhanced skills, and the expertise needed to meet the country’s national security demands.
The ceremony was attended by the Deputy Commander of the Somali National Army, Brigadier General Madi Sheikh Nur Afuro, Chinese Ambassador to Somalia Mr. Wang Yi, as well as senior military officials and invited guests.
