Somalia, Ethiopia strengthen bilateral ties in high-level meeting

Mogadishu, (SONNA) – In a significant step towards enhancing diplomatic relations, the Speaker of the People’s Assembly of the Federal Republic of Somalia, Mr. Sheikh Adan Mohamed Nur (Madoobe), held a high-level meeting with the Chargé d’Affaires of the Ethiopian Embassy in Somalia, Mr. Ketema Haile Minuta, in Mogadishu today. The discussions focused on strengthening bilateral ties, particularly through increased parliamentary cooperation.

During the meeting, Mr. Ketema Haile Minuta reaffirmed Ethiopia’s commitment to deepening its relationship with Somalia, emphasizing the importance of collaboration between the two nations’ parliaments. He highlighted the role of parliamentary diplomacy in addressing shared challenges and fostering mutual understanding.

Speaker Sheikh Adan Mohamed Nur (Madoobe) expressed his appreciation for Ethiopia’s ongoing support and efforts to strengthen ties. He underscored the importance of parliamentary engagement in promoting regional stability and development, reiterating Somalia’s dedication to enhancing its partnership with Ethiopia.

This meeting marks a pivotal moment in the longstanding relationship between Somalia and Ethiopia, as both nations work together to advance peace, stability, and prosperity in the Horn of Africa. The focus on parliamentary cooperation reflects a shared commitment to fostering unity and addressing regional challenges through dialogue and collaboration.
