Beijing, China – (SONNA) — The Somali Ambassador to China, Dr. Hodan Cusmaan Cabdi, today inaugurated a pivotal workshop designed for senior officials from the Office of the President and the Office of the Prime Minister of the Federal Republic of Somalia. This initiative, which will run from August 15 to August 29, is organized by the International Cooperation Center of the National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC) of China, focusing on critical themes of governance, leadership, and modern statecraft.
The workshop aims to harness China’s extensive expertise in state reform, economic liberalization, and successful development strategies. Participants will have the opportunity to observe, analyze, and evaluate effective methods for achieving sustainable development rooted in national planning, transparency, and high-quality public services. This knowledge is intended to be adapted to the unique circumstances facing Somalia.
In her opening address, Dr. Hodan underscored the workshop’s significance in advancing Somalia’s ongoing efforts towards institutional reform, economic revitalization, and the establishment of an effective, accountable government. She urged participants to leverage China’s experiences while thoughtfully considering how to implement these insights within Somalia’s context through strategic planning and collaboration.
Officials from the NDRC reaffirmed their commitment to supporting Somalia, particularly in governance, institutional rebuilding, infrastructure enhancement, and investment promotion. This bilateral cooperation is viewed as a vital step in fortifying the strategic partnership between Somalia and China, fostering knowledge exchange and expertise that will contribute to sustainable development in the region.
