Mogadishu (SONNA) — The Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the Federal Republic of Somalia, H.E. Abdisalam Abdi Ali, on Monday held a phone call with H.E. Wang Yi, Member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the People’s Republic of China.
During the call, both sides reaffirmed the strength of the Somalia–China strategic partnership and their mutual support on core national interests. They welcomed the positive momentum in bilateral relations and agreed to further deepen political trust and expand practical cooperation.
China reiterated its firm support for Somalia’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, stressing that Somaliland is an inalienable part of the Federal Republic of Somalia. In turn, Somalia reaffirmed its steadfast support for the one-China principle, China’s efforts toward national reunification, and the authority of United Nations General Assembly Resolution 2758.
The two ministers also discussed enhancing cooperation in trade, development assistance, people-to-people exchanges, and multilateral coordination, as well as advancing peace and development in the Horn of Africa.
Both sides emphasized the importance of upholding the principles of the United Nations Charter and international law, calling on all countries to respect sovereignty and non-interference, and to reject the threat or use of force, as well as coercive and intimidatory practices in international relations.
