Baku, (SONNA) — The Minister of Agriculture and Irrigation of the Federal Government of Somalia, H.E Mohamed A. Hayir Maareeye, signed a Memorandum of Understanding with H.E. Majnun Mammadov, Minister of Agriculture of Azerbaijan, aimed at strengthening bilateral cooperation in the agriculture sector.
The agreement focuses on key areas including sector development, the exchange of best agricultural practices, innovation and technology transfer, trade facilitation, and investment in Somalia’s arable land. It also includes provisions for agri-scholarships for Somali students, joint research initiatives, and the implementation of climate-resilient irrigation systems.
The ministers also explored the potential use of artificial intelligence in agriculture, marking a strategic step toward innovation-driven partnerships and stronger agri-diplomatic ties between the two countries.
