Mogadishu, – The Minister of Planning, Investment, and Economic Development of the Federal Government of Somalia, Mahamud Farah Beenebeene, held a key meeting with the Director of Development at the British Embassy in Somalia, Chris Pycroft, to discuss development cooperation and strategic partnerships.

The discussions centered on the implementation of Somalia’s National Transitional Plan (NTP 2025-2029), which is set to be officially launched on March 17, 2025. Both sides reviewed progress on ongoing development projects and explored ways to enhance donor engagement in priority sectors to benefit the Somali people.

A major point of discussion was the impact of reductions in Official Development Assistance (ODA) funding, with both parties assessing strategies to mitigate potential setbacks. Minister Beenebeene emphasized Somalia’s commitment to sustainable development and highlighted the importance of aligning donor support with national priorities.

The Federal Government of Somalia expressed its gratitude to the UK Government and other international partners for their continued contributions to the country’s reconstruction and economic development. Both sides agreed to strengthen cooperation to ensure that all development efforts are well-coordinated, sustainable, and mutually beneficial.

The National Transformation Plan 2025-2029 marks a significant milestone in Somalia’s journey toward long-term economic growth and self-reliance. The Government remains committed to working closely with international partners to implement effective policies that foster inclusive and sustainable development.
