ANKARA, Turkey – The Federal Government of Somalia’s Minister of Fisheries and Blue Economy, H.E. Ahmed Hassan Adan, alongside the Minister of Ports and Marine Transport, H.E. Abdulkadir Mohamed Nur, convened a high-level strategic meeting in Ankara today with the Turkish Minister of Agriculture and Forestry, H.E. İbrahim Yumaklı. The session marks a renewed push to operationalize key agreements in the maritime sector.
The bilateral discussions centered on fortifying the historic diplomatic and economic ties between the two nations, with a specific focus on the operational synergy between their respective ministries. A primary agenda item was the acceleration of previously ratified agreements aimed at developing marine production capabilities and enhancing the infrastructure necessary for a thriving blue economy.
During the proceedings, the Somali delegation expressed profound appreciation to the government and people of Turkey. The Ministers highlighted the continuous and reliable support extended by Ankara, emphasizing that the relationship is built on a strong foundation of mutual cooperation and brotherhood that has consistently aided Somalia’s state-building trajectory.
In his remarks, the Turkish Minister of Agriculture and Forestry, H.E. İbrahim Yumaklı, reaffirmed the Republic of Turkey’s resolute commitment to supporting Somalia’s development. He assured his counterparts that the Turkish government remains fully dedicated to the rapid implementation of all joint initiatives and signed treaties, ensuring that the shared economic goals of both nations are realized effectively.
This meeting further cements the deep strategic partnership between Mogadishu and Ankara, particularly in the vital sectors of maritime transport and natural resource management, which are essential components of Somalia’s economic recovery plan.
