Mogadishu, Somalia – High-ranking officials from Somalia and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia convened to explore avenues for strengthening investment relations and fostering deeper economic cooperation between the two nations. The crucial meeting, held in Mogadishu, signifies a growing mutual interest in leveraging economic synergies for shared prosperity.
The discussions brought together Mr. Mohamed Dubo, Director of the Investment Promotion Office (SOMINVEST) within Somalia’s Ministry of Planning, Investment and Economic Development, and His Excellency Ambassador Ahmed bin Mohammed Al-Mawlid, the esteemed Ambassador of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to Somalia. Their dialogue centered on strategic points aimed at enhancing bilateral cooperation, with a particular focus on accelerating economic development within Somalia and facilitating direct investment from Saudi Arabia.
During the meeting, Ambassador Al-Mawlid conveyed the increasing enthusiasm among Saudi companies regarding Somalia’s burgeoning investment markets. He highlighted the significant potential that Somali sectors offer to Saudi investors, ranging from agriculture and livestock to infrastructure and energy. The Ambassador also emphasized the vital need for establishing a streamlined and efficient system that would enable Saudi companies to operate smoothly and effectively within Somalia, ensuring a conducive environment for foreign direct investment.
Director Mohamed Dubo, representing Somalia’s commitment to attracting foreign capital, articulated the various opportunities available in the country and reaffirmed the government’s dedication to creating a secure and inviting investment climate.
