Addis Ababa, (SONNA) – The Minister of Labour and Social Affairs of the Federal Government of Somalia, H.E. MP Yusuf Mohamed Aden, held a high-level meeting with Ethiopia’s Minister of Labour and Skills, H.E. Muferihat Kamil Ahmed, to discuss strengthening bilateral cooperation in employment creation, skills development, and labour market integration across the Horn of Africa.
The two ministers emphasized the importance of deepening collaboration to address shared challenges related to youth employment and regional workforce mobility. Discussions focused on aligning policies that foster job creation and enhance professional training opportunities for young people in both countries.
In a separate meeting, Minister Yusuf also met with Mr. Mulualem Syoum, CEO of the African Electronic Trade Group (AeTrade). Their talks centered on expanding joint initiatives to support youth employment and digital skills training for Somali youth, in line with broader goals for economic empowerment and digital integration in Africa.
The engagements concluded with an agreement to establish a joint technical committee tasked with developing and implementing concrete mechanisms for cooperation, particularly in labour and skills development programs that benefit Somali youth.
