The Somali Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation,H.E Abdisalam Abdi Ali (Dhaay), met with the Secretary-General of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), Dr. Kao Kim Hourn, in Jakarta to discuss enhanced cooperation. The primary focus of the high-level meeting was to strengthen collaborative relations and explore opportunities for partnerships across various sectors.
During their discussion, Minister Abdisalam Dhaay pointed out the importance for Somalia to establish an official presence within ASEAN. He explained that such a move would be instrumental in boosting Somalia’s commercial, political, and social connections with the member states of the regional bloc. The minister highlighted the shared interests and potential for mutual growth, particularly in areas like trade and education.
