Nairobi, (SONNA) — In a significant step toward tackling climate change, Somalia is set to enhance its climate action framework with the development of its Nationally Determined Contribution (NDC) 3.0. This initiative aims to outline the country’s commitments to reducing greenhouse gas emissions and adapting to climate impacts, in line with the global objectives of the Paris Agreement.
Minister of Environment and Climate Change of the Federal Government of Somalia, L.t. General Bashir Mohamed Jama, emphasized the importance of collaboration, stating, “Collective support from our partners is vital for the successful implementation of our climate strategies.”
The high-level consultations, involving key stakeholders including Jibril Ibrahim Abdulle, the Ambassador of Somalia to Kenya, aim to foster a united approach to climate resilience. Ambassador Abdulle, representing Somalia’s interests in Kenya, highlighted the urgency of addressing vulnerabilities within the region.
As Somalia gears up to finalize its NDC 3.0, the focus remains on aligning national priorities with international climate goals, ensuring a sustainable future for the Somali people.
