Algiers, (SONNA) — The Minister of Commerce and Industry of the Federal Government of Somalia, H.E. Mohamud Ahmed Aden Geesood, attended the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) Ministerial Dialogue held on the sidelines of the IATF 2025 exhibition in Algeria.
The meeting, hosted by Algeria’s Minister of Foreign Trade and Export Promotion, Prof. Kamel Rezig, brought together AfCFTA Secretary-General Wamkele Mene and trade ministers from across the continent to discuss ways to facilitate intra-African trade.
Discussions emphasized the urgency of moving beyond aspirations and strategies towards concrete implementation of AfCFTA, with the goal of creating jobs, boosting industrialization, and ensuring shared prosperity across Africa.
Somalia’s participation reaffirmed the Federal Government’s commitment to playing an active role in strengthening continental trade and advancing Africa’s economic integration.
The Minister was accompanied by Somalia’s Ambassador to Algeria, H.E. Yusuf Ahmed Hassan (Yusuf Jeego).
