Riyadh, SONNA – The Minister of State for the Ministry of Agriculture & Irrigation of Somalia, Mr. Asad Abdirisaq Mohamed, presided over a pivotal session at the 38th Agriculture Conference of the Arab countries, held in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

The conference served as a collaborative forum for Arab Ministers of Agriculture to address the sector’s development and the shared challenges faced by farmers across the region. The event highlighted the critical role of agriculture in economic stability and food security.

Representing Somalia, Minister Asad, alongside expert members from the ministry, engaged in strategic dialogues focusing on advancing agricultural practices and bolstering support for Somali farmers.

In his address, Minister Asad underscored the significance of agriculture to Somalia’s livelihood and economy. He detailed the adversities confronting Somali farmers, including the impacts of climate change, recurrent floods, and persistent droughts.

The conference, aligning with the Arab League’s commitment to sustainable development, emphasized the need for cooperative efforts to mitigate these challenges and enhance agricultural resilience.

As Somalia endeavors to fortify its agricultural sector, the insights and experiences shared by Minister Asad and his delegation are expected to contribute to the formulation of robust strategies for the betterment of farmers not only in Somalia but throughout the Arab world.

The outcomes of the conference are anticipated to pave the way for innovative solutions and regional partnerships, reinforcing the agricultural backbone of the participating nations.
