Mogadishu, SONNA – The State Minister for Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Hon. Ali Mohamed Omar, met on Wednesday with the Interim Special Representative of the Chairperson of the African Union Commission (SRCC) for Somalia, Mr. Adebayo Kareem, at the Ministry’s headquarters in Mogadishu. The high-level discussion focused on enhancing joint efforts and deepening cooperation in support of peacebuilding and stabilization across Somalia.
The meeting underscored the importance of strategic coordination between the Federal Government of Somalia and the African Union, particularly through the African Union Support and Stabilization Mission in Somalia (AUSSOM). Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to a shared vision of strengthening national institutions, reinforcing security, and promoting long-term stability.
The dialogue covered recent political and security developments in the country, including the evolving role of AUSSOM in facilitating Somalia’s transition from peacekeeping to peacebuilding and institutional consolidation.
