Kampala, (SONNA) — The Minister of Internal Security of the Federal Republic of Somalia, Gen. Abdullahi Sheikh Ismail (Fartaag), held a fruitful meeting in Kampala with the Minister of Security of the Republic of Uganda, Hon. Jim Katugugu Muhwezi.
The discussions focused on strengthening bilateral security cooperation, particularly in counterterrorism efforts, intelligence sharing, and capacity-building programs for security forces in both countries.
Minister Fartaag thanked the Government of Uganda for its continued support to Somalia, especially its vital role in the AUSSOM peacekeeping mission, emphasizing the importance of deepening collaboration between the two ministries.
For his part, Minister Muhwezi commended the Somali Government’s efforts to enhance national security and rebuild its security institutions, reaffirming Uganda’s commitment to ongoing cooperation and support in maintaining stability in the region.
