Mogadishu, SONNA, (May 17, 2023) -President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud of the Federal Republic of Somalia, who is on an official visit to Doha, met with H.H Emir Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani of Qatar at the Presidential Palace.
The leaders discussed ways to strengthen cooperation between their countries, enhance security, and implement existing agreements.
The meeting aimed to enhance diplomatic relations between Somalia and Qatar and pave the way for further collaboration in areas such as investment, economic development, education, security, counterterrorism, and international cooperation.
Emir Tamim praised Somalia’s achievements in the war against Al-Shabaab and its efforts to promote stability in the Horn of Africa. He commended the Somali government for its efforts to rid the country of terrorism and establish lasting peace.
The governments of Somalia and Qatar have a deep friendship based on shared interests and a commitment to advancing the well-being of their peoples. This meeting marks another step forward in their ongoing partnership.
