Kampala, Uganda (SONNA) – The President of the Federal Republic of Somalia, Dr. Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, arrived in Kampala on [insert date] for an official visit aimed at strengthening bilateral ties and enhancing cooperation between Somalia and Uganda. The Somali leader was accompanied by a high-level delegation and was warmly received upon arrival, underscoring the strong relationship between the two nations.

President Mohamud is scheduled to hold talks with his Ugandan counterpart, President Yoweri Museveni, to discuss a range of issues, including ways to bolster diplomatic, economic, and security cooperation. A key focus of the discussions will be on joint efforts to combat terrorist groups, particularly Al-Shabaab, which continues to pose a significant threat to regional stability.

In a statement to the Somali National News Agency, Mr. Abdirahman Adam Ali (Xadaana), the spokesman for the Federal Presidency, highlighted the significance of the visit. He noted that the warm welcome extended to President Mohamud and his delegation reflects the mutual interests and shared goals of Somalia and Uganda.

“This visit is a testament to the strong and growing relationship between our two countries,” said Mr. Xadaana. “It provides an opportunity to explore new avenues of collaboration and to reaffirm our commitment to working together for peace, security, and development in the region.”

The meeting between the two leaders is expected to result in the signing of several agreements aimed at deepening cooperation in areas such as trade, education, and security. Both nations have expressed a shared commitment to addressing the challenges posed by terrorism and to promoting stability in the Horn of Africa.

President Mohamud’s visit to Uganda comes at a critical time as Somalia continues to make strides in its state-building efforts and fight against extremism. Uganda, a key contributor to the African Union Transition Mission in Somalia (ATMIS), has been a steadfast ally in Somalia’s journey toward peace and stability.

The Somali delegation’s visit is seen as a significant step in fostering stronger ties between the two countries and in advancing regional cooperation. As the discussions unfold, the outcomes are expected to have a positive impact on both nations and contribute to the broader goal of achieving lasting peace and prosperity in the region.
