Dhuusamareeb, Somalia — The President of the Federal Republic of Somalia, Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, accompanied by the President of Galmudug State, Ahmed Abdi Karie, today conducted an inspection tour of the Ugaas Nuur Airport. The visit was to assess the progress of the ongoing construction work to modernize the key regional airport.

The leaders were briefed by the project engineers and officials on the construction phases and timelines. The new airport is being developed to meet contemporary aviation standards, which is a major step toward enhancing air travel and connectivity for the region. The project is expected to significantly boost Dhuusamareeb’s strategic importance as a hub for both commercial and security operations.

The joint visit by the two leaders serves as a powerful symbol of collaboration between the federal government and Galmudug State. The development of modern infrastructure such as airports is considered crucial for stimulating local economies, facilitating the movement of people and goods, and supporting the ongoing stabilization efforts in the region.

The completion of the Ugaas Nuur Airport is anticipated to provide a major economic and logistical advantage, strengthening trade links and contributing to the overall development and security of the area.
