Mogadishu, Somalia – SONNA – A specialized training program for investigator officers drawn from Somalia’s regional administrations has successfully concluded, with a graduation ceremony presided over by the Commander of the Somali Police Force, Brigadier General Asad Osman Abdullahi. During the event, Brigadier General Abdullahi personally issued certificates to the graduating officers, marking a significant step in enhancing the professional capabilities of law enforcement across the nation.

The intensive program, organized by the Police Force’s Planning and Training Directorate, equipped the officers with a comprehensive suite of modern investigative skills. The curriculum focused on critical disciplines, including advanced techniques in forensic science for meticulous crime scene analysis and effective crime scene management. Participants also refined their methods for interviewing victims and witnesses, learning approaches that ensure accuracy and sensitivity. A vital component of the training involved the proficient use of digital technology for the proper collection and presentation of evidence, a skill growing ever more crucial in contemporary investigations.

This graduation event highlights the Somali Police Force’s deep commitment to professionalizing its ranks and strengthening the rule of law throughout the country. By imbuing these officers with advanced and specialized investigative expertise, the force aims to elevate the quality of investigations, thereby contributing to more effective crime resolution and a more robust and fair justice system. The enhanced capabilities of these newly certified investigators are considered pivotal for building public trust and ensuring that perpetrators are brought to justice through credible and evidence-based processes.

During the ceremony, Brigadier General Asad Osman Abdullahi addressed the graduating officers, delivering a powerful message that emphasized the importance of their continued dedication. He urged them to foster greater cooperation among themselves, noting that collaborative effort is a key component of effective law enforcement. Furthermore, he exhorted them to diligently apply the knowledge and techniques acquired during their training in their daily duties. The Commander also encouraged the graduates to actively share their newly gained expertise with their colleagues in their respective regions, fostering a ripple effect of professional development and elevating the overall standards of policing across Somalia.
