The Standing Committee of the House of Representatives of the Federal Republic of Somalia convened on Thursday in Mogadishu, under the chairmanship of Speaker Sheikh Adan Mohamed Noor (Madobe).
The meeting was attended by First Deputy Speaker Saadiyo Yasin Haji Samatar and all the members of the committee, who discussed the international agreements that the government has signed and the progress of the legislative proposals that have gone through various stages of approval.
The Standing Committee is responsible for overseeing the legislative agenda of the parliament and ensuring the quality and consistency of the bills and motions that are submitted to the plenary session.
The Federal Parliament of Somalia is a bicameral legislature, consisting of an Upper House (Senate) and a Lower House (House of the People). The parliament elects the President, Speaker of Parliament and Deputy Speakers.
