Mogadishu, (SONNA) – Members of the House of the People of the Federal Parliament of Somalia convened for the 11th session at the Parliament’s headquarters, chaired by Speaker Sheikh Aden Mohamed Nur (Madoobe).
The session began with 146 members present, during which parliamentarians conducted the first reading of the agreement that led to the establishment of the Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD). The details of the agreement were presented to the parliament by the State Minister for Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, H.E. Ali Balcad.
Following the presentation, parliamentarians raised questions regarding the terms of the agreement and the significance of Somalia’s membership in IGAD. These questions were addressed by Minister Ali Balcad, who provided detailed responses.
Speaker Sheikh Aden Mohamed Nur (Madoobe) closed the session, directing the Foreign Affairs Committee to prepare the second reading of the agreement for further debate and discussion in the House.
