Mogadishu, (SONNA) The House of the People of the Federal Parliament of Somalia has concluded discussions on parliamentary immunity and MPs’ travel privileges during its third session of the sixth sitting. The session was chaired by Speaker Sheikh Adan Mohamed Noor (Madoobe), alongside Second Deputy Speaker Abdullahi Omar Abshirow.
The debate, initiated by several MPs, aimed to address concerns regarding the protection of lawmakers’ privileges and mobility. Speaker Madoobe announced that the discussions, which began in a previous session, have now been finalized.
In addition, the House of the People conducted the first reading of the Pharmaceutical Bill, drafted by the Ministry of Health and Social Welfare. The Minister of Health presented an overview of the bill, outlining its key provisions and significance for Somalia’s healthcare sector.
Following parliamentary procedures, Speaker Madoobe stated that, as per the House’s standing orders, the bill would now be referred to the relevant parliamentary committee for further review before its second reading and subsequent debate.
