KAMPALA (SONNA) – A contingent of Somali military officers has successfully graduated from a high-level, year-long training course in Uganda, in a ceremony officially closed by the President of the Republic of Uganda, H.E. Yoweri Museveni.
The graduation ceremony was attended by a high-level Somali delegation, demonstrating the strong bilateral security cooperation between the two nations. The Somali Federal Government was represented by Ambassador Fardowsa Maxamed Qanyare, Somalia’s envoy to Uganda.
Also present were senior officials from the Somali National Army (SNA), including Senior Colonel Axmed Ise, the SNA Commander of Training, and Senior Colonel Cali Aadan Shuriye, the SNA Commander of Protocol.
The Somali graduates were part of a large multinational class of 498 officers. The intensive, year-long training program brought together military personnel from several African nations, including the host country Uganda, as well as Tanzania, Mali, the Central African Republic (CAR), and Somalia.
This event highlights the significant role the Government of Uganda continues to play in the rebuilding and professionalization of the Somali National Army. Uganda is a key partner, providing crucial training, capacity-building, and knowledge-sharing to strengthen Somalia’s security forces.
